USEFUL INFORMATION
Swimming season in Greece begins in mid-May and lasts until the end of October. The hottest period is in July-August, the temperature can rise to + 35-37 degrees, and the sea warms up to 25 degrees. And December-January is considered a great month for ski resorts.
The summers are hot and dry, the winters warm, with little rainfall. in winter the average temperature is + 10-12 degrees.

Currency. Currency – Euro. Dollars can be exchanged for Euros at banks or currency exchange offices, in the city or in any other settlement. Most hotels also have currency exchange points. Many large and small businesses accept credit cards such as: Visa, Diner’s Club, MasterCard, American Express When leaving Greece, the rest of the euro can be exchanged for any converted currency
Tourist tax: From 01/01/2018 the state tax is paid by the guest at the hotel upon check-in.

Archaeological sites and monasteries. When visiting archeological sites it is strictly forbidden to take fragments of marble and other stones as souvenirs. Otherwise, you will face a heavy fine. When going on a trip to Meteora, where the monasteries are, it is important to know that women are not allowed to enter the monastery in trousers, shorts, and blouses with open shoulders. Men should not be in a monastery in shorts.
Tip. Taxi drivers tip not to give. Hotel staff, waiters in restaurants according to local customs are allowed to tip in the amount of 5-10%.
OPERATION HOURS
Shops are open all days of the week (except Sunday) from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Supermarkets are open from 08:00 to 21:00 from Monday to Friday, and from 08:00 to 18:00 on Saturday. Sunday is the day off.
In addition, small kiosks (Greek: Peripter) work everywhere, where, almost at any time of the day, you can buy the most necessary goods. Banks are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 2pm. Post offices are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 2pm. The Main Post Office and the post offices of the railway stations are open 24 hours a day. Museums are open daily except on Mondays and sometimes on Tuesdays.
